Free after school program in partnership with the Sacramento City Unified School District.
The program is held at the Phoenix Park Resident Activity Center. Students that attend Parkway Elementary School are walked by program staff to Phoenix Park every day. The after school program provides homework assistance, academic enrichment and organized recreation.
Students are provided with a nutritious snack and supper.
The Magic Reading Lounge is a reading program where students are encouraged to read 15 minutes a day and write summaries about what they have read.
Students are provided with incentives for participating daily and receive gift cards for their participation. Student's progress is monitored monthly.
Students utilize IBM reading companion which is an internet based reading program that uses voice recognition to evaluate the student's reading ability.

The Family Literacy Program is designed to involve 75 and 100 parents of children in the after school program in monthly classes based upon parent interest and needs, such as English as a Second Language, effective parenting/family relationships, family arts appreciation, health and safety, money matters, and technology education classes.
A sample of planned activities incorporating literacy include: family reading night, parent success sharing, team work assignments, parent/student special homework sessions, and parent cultural sharing.

Our Summer Program is offered to students entering 1st through 6th grades. This is an 8-week program conducted in partnership with the Sacramento City Unified School District and runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
This is a first of its kind 7-week opportunity for incoming 1st through 6th graders to participate in a meaningful and engaging summer learning program where they will meet new friends and get the support to strengthen their literacy, math, social science, healthy eating and physical activity skills.
This year's eight week program will give students an opportunity to learn with their peers through fun and student driven project-based activities that will be recognized at a district-wide celebration that will bring together all SummerQuest sites to showcase their work and participate in fun physical and academic challenges.
The teen program is offered to students entering 7th through 9th grades. This is an eight week Summer program conducted in collaboration with the City of Sacramento Parks and Recreation Department and Sacramento City Unified School District. The program runs Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Program participants will participate in activities such as outdoor games, leadership development, life skills, music appreciation, drama and theater, and educational field trips.
The focus of this program is to assist academically challenged students and to maintain academic progress for students as summer school is not available. Students will be served a supper and a nutritious snack.

The Mayor’s Summer Reading Camp is a remedial literacy program targeting children from K-2nd grade who need a little extra help with reading. The program consists of fun lessons, activities, and special visitors and is designed to help young readers become more confident and excited about reading. The program is offered FREE of charge, with snack and lunch provided each day. At the end of the two weeks they have a graduation to celebrate their accomplishments.

Geek Squad Academy is a hands-on learning program to give teens access to opportunities through technology, sponsored by Best Buy. Students will be taught in a fun, interactive learning environment about the latest technology in classes such as digital photography, digital film production, digital literacy, robotics, 3D printing and digital music.
During Geek Squad Academy, students will develop technology skills, inspire future education and career choices, and build friendships through activities such as storyboarding and producing a film, or collaborating on digital media projects.
